Hall of Fame Weekend

Back in July, we received notification that the 2004-2005 basketball team at USD which Andy was a part of was being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
This was a nice surprise and we were anxious to see old teammates and friends again.

This past weekend we were able to go spend the weekend in Vermillion celebrating the inductees and also participate in festivities for the home football game.

Friday night we attended a banquet where the inductees were recognized.
The kids did a great job at sitting as still as they could and being quiet during the ceremony.
It was a special honor having Joe and Karen attend with us as Joe is also in the USD Hall of Fame for men's basketball.

That night Andy and I were able to sneak away and spend some time with the old crew and relive some fun memories from our college days.
On Saturday, Andy enjoyed a tour of the new basketball facility while the kids and I explored Vermillion. We drove by the lookout where Andy proposed, a few parks we enjoyed, of our old dorms.

We enjoyed tailgating, listening to the band, as well as watching the football game.
During half time, Andy along with the rest of the inductees were recognized on the field.

It's always nice to head back to Vermillion but this weekend was extra special for us.
It was fun to explain this whole other life that Andy and I had to the kids. Marie was fascinated by our dorm life and college life before we were parents:
"Wait, Dad played basketball here?"
"Mom, you were in a singing group?"
"So you just lived with a person you didn't know?"

It was fun to relive those memories and think ahead to our own kids enjoying college...actually scratch that last thought...it's too soon to let my mind wander to sending them to college!
Either way, Go Yotes!
