When we learned of Gus' sickness, we were all so upset. We felt defeated and our home just felt sad.
Instead of wallowing, we decided to create a bucket list for Gus.
Every day we chose something new and we gave him a very full last few weeks on earth...and in return, he gave us a beautiful distraction.
We tried to capture as many photos as possible but sometimes we were just too caught up in the moment. These are memories we will keep forever.
1. Swimming in the lake
2. run through the prairie grass
3. play fetch
4. eat fresh baked bread
5. nap on the sun room chair
6. cuddles with kids
7. nap with mom
8. eat an ice cream cone
9. bacon for every meal
10. ride in the truck
11. lick dishes in dishwasher as long as he wants
12. run in the mud puddles
13. Chase Maya in the yard
14. Waffles for breakfast
15. share yogurt with Brooks
16. sit in the shade and watch the kids play
19. nap with Maya
20. Sleep with mom and dad in bed
And just like that, his bucket list was complete.
I recently came across this saying:
"having a dog as a part of your family will bless you with some of the best days of your life, and one of the worst."
That is completely true. Gus, you were a champ of a dog, and we miss you so much.
