Well our ground is finally covered in the white stuff...well, almost covered. We had an inch and it is partly melted but still, it's something! That means it's time to build a snowman!
As soon as I picked Marie up from school on Friday she asked to get her snowpants and boots on because she and Charlie wanted to play in the snow. She loved walking around the backyard making footprints and finally building her snowman. She used carrots for the eyes and nose.
On Saturday morning Marie and I felt like making some holiday crafts. We cut out snowflakes from coffee filters and then decorated our fridge to look like Frosty the Snowman. I did the cutting and Marie did the taping on the fridge. This was such a fun activity for us both. Bennett enjoyed watching us while he was busy chewing on an ice cold carrot - poor buddy is teething and is always looking for some relief. Now when Marie needs something out of the fridge she first asks Frosty if she can have it.
"Frosty, may I have an apple?"
After naps we headed to the Santa House in downtown Sioux City. We got to sit on Santa's lap, make a holiday craft, and enjoy a Santa cookie. Both kids did great with Santa. Marie asked for several things including a Snow White dress, pretend puppy and pretend kitty, and a toy dragon for Bennett.
Sunday was a blustery day with snow flurries - a perfect day for baking cookies. Marie was very into the rolling, cutting , and frosting this year. Bennett once again watched with a carrot and other various chewing toys. Charlie watched with a close eye for anything that happened to drop on the floor. It is fun for Andy & I to reminisce about this tradition now that we have been doing it for a few years.
Marie enjoyed her fair share of frosting. Her favorite color was red and her favorite topping was the mini M&Ms.
Bennett is such a content little guy. He sat for the whole time playing and chewing.
At the end of this busy but fun winter weekend, the kids are exhausted and so are mom & dad. Andy was playing downstairs with them while I was cleaning up the dried up frosting and sprinkles off the floor when the 2 boys fell asleep. Naturally Marie was wide awake looking for more fun.
As we put her to bed tonight, she said, "Mom this was such a fun & busy weekend!"
I couldn't agree more!
