Even though this isn't a happy post I feel like I need to write this so I can remind Bennett some day.
Bennett is officially 2 years old.
Tantrums, opinions, fits, followed by testing limits and not believing his parents.
Friday night while making supper, Bennett was watching me put a pan on the stove.
I reminded him that it was hot and we don't touch it.
I saw the twinkle in his eye and he continued to inch closer and closer.
Once again, I got down on his level, looked him in the eye and sternly said, "you do not touch the stove, it will burn your hand."
He stared at me with eyes that seemed to say, "You have no idea what you are talking about."
I began setting the table and he grabbed the stool, ran to the stove and quickly climbed up in fast forward speed, and slammed his hand on the stove....instantly followed by screaming.
Of course I ran to him and cuddled him and put his hand under cold water even though I secretly wanted to say, "Bennett what did mommy say???"
He spent the next 3 hours grasping anything cold, beer can, pop can, and frosty mugs.
His hand blistered this size of a quarter but he is doing better.
That started a rough 48 hours for him which included fingers in the van window, fever, and croup.
I am happy to say that he is on the mend.
I think this guy is going to give us a run for our money!
