Now that we are settling into our school year schedule, and we are slowly catching our breath, I realized how busy and active Brooks is this year as well.
He and I have a nice schedule going where we stay pretty busy with activities around the community and school.
On any given day you can find us at the YMCA while mom gets some exercise and Brooks gets to play with his friends in the daycare.
We also attend a Nature Tots class at our local Dickinson County Nature Center. The most recent class allowed us the opportunity to touch snakes, frogs, tiger salamanders, and get up close with a tarantula.
Tuesday mornings we both work together at Time Out Nursery - a free daycare/respite service for Dickinson County. Brooks loves this time as he plays with farm animals with some of his best buds, gets to eat snack and make crafts as well.
Wednesdays are Dad's day off so they are usually full of fun...fishing, golfing, superheroes, and playtime. Sometimes we sneak in a lunch at a restaurant just the 3 of us.
Sometimes we are invited to school for lunch with Marie and Bennett.
This is one of Brooks' favorite parts of the day.
Last week we were asked to join Bennett and his class at the local fire station. Brooks loved this activity and absolutely did not want to leave.
Thursday mornings are full of library story time as well as play time with some friends at church.
And finally, when we settle down and it's just the two of us, we are loving to read books, have picnics, take walks, ride bikes around the neighborhood, bake, and color. Then at the end of the week, he looks like this:
I love that I am getting this time alone with Brooks. I've been so blessed to have "alone time" with each of our kids whether I was working full time, part time, or while staying home.
With Marie, we loved coloring and playing Barbies, dolls, listening to books on CD, or just singing.
Bennett and I loved puzzles, games, dinosaurs, and baking.
Brooks and I are finding our own special time, too. One of my favorite times with him is driving from place to place. He talks non-stop! Commenting on things he sees, songs he hears, or remembering moments from the past day or week. Some days I wish he would quiet down a little because my ears need a break, but I know I will long for that sweet little voice in my van someday. So for now I'm soaking in every minute and every conversation that I can.
