All our Christmas Fun

Our Christmas holiday was full of family, fun, and a lot of laughing. Marie made this Christmas extra special this year. She was so in tune to all things Christmas: singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus, waiting for Santa to bring her that pink bunny rabbit, opening gifts and dropping her jaw with amazement, and even twirling around when she got too excited. It really made Christmas more magical this year.
We started in Spencer with the Mueting side. We went to church, played games, and Marie jumped on the bed as many times as she could convince her aunts and uncle. Marie had several opportunities to open presents and loved every minute of it. Although at times when she would feel overwhelmed by all her fun new gifts, she would just simply grab a book or a lap and zone out for a few.
Next we went to Sheldon to be with the Van Beek side. Marie is one of many grand kids there so she learned how to take turns opening presents. This came easy to her and it seemed to confuse the other little ones that she didn't rip her presents open one after the other...instead she opened her first gift and decided to just read that while the others opened more.

That evening we played "Minute to Win It" games that Keri and I had organized. Everyone loved it! I don't think I have laughed that hard in years. The kids got really into it as well. It's hard to explain it all but the pictures do some talking for me. One of the favorite games was one where you had to get all the jingle bells out of a box that was attached to your bum...needless to say everyone was forced to do this and we have video to prove it!
We were so blessed to be able to spend time with our family over the holiday and enjoy some much needed time off. Although...Andy sees time off as an opportunity to tackle projects. So, he and his dad were busy transforming our basement with some new sheetrock, paint, and organizing. It looks great and we are very thankful for the help. Marie was happy to have Papa in town too because that meant she got to go swimming at the hotel! It was hard to drag her out of the pool after all that splashing around.
