Life in the iPhone lately

 Our new fall schedule since school has started is definitely keeping us on our toes!

Marie and Bennett are in school all day and both are really enjoying their teachers and especially field trips.  Both kids were able to attend "fishing day" with their classes and we also got to join in on the fun!  

Grammy and Dad joined Bennett while Marie had help from Brooks and Mom.

Brooks loved the experience, especially all the attention from Marie's friends. 

 Brooks and I spend 1-2 mornings a week working at something called Time Out Nursery which is a sort of respite daycare.  We both get a lot of play time there and come home exhausted!

One of our last hot days, we snuck away for a lunch on the beach with some wading. It was such a perfect little moment and I love getting this one on one time with him this year.

 Marie recently got her ears pierced!

This was a total spur of the moment decision and she was so brave. All she said was "OW!"

 We are also doing our usual search and rescue in the window well every morning for tiger salamanders.  These little guys love to burrow down there to get warm for the winter but it's not the right habitat for them. So, we help them out gently and place them in a better spot.  

Saying goodbye to them is much harder on Brooks this year!

Celebrating 70

 

 Grandma Nel turned 70!!!

And we all joined her to celebrate like most 70 year olds would want to....kick ball and soft ball games!  This lady is always on the go and she's always wanted to play more organized games as a family.  So, that is exactly what we did! 

 

It was so much fun!

We also had a ride in the back of the truck and of course Grandma couldn't be left out of that. 

 

 Our celebrations concluded with dinner and of course cake and ice cream!

Happy Birthday, Mom!  We love you so much!

Labor Day Fun

 Over the Labor Day holiday we were able to enjoy our local Nature Center's Pollinator festival.  We tasted yummy honey cotton candy, honey butter, and even tagged a monarch butterfly.

 We also made the trip to Sheldon for their annual Celebration Days.  The kids had a blast running around the games and activities with their cousins. They also found Grandpa Rick's flag in the avenue of flags.

First Day of School 2017-2018

Summer is officially gone and the school year has begun. 

These two had their first day of school this past week and they were pretty excited about it. 

Marie is in 2nd grade and she is loving the fact that she has her very own desk that lifts up to reveal all her supplies. She also is excited for her science class this year.

Bennett is in TK and is in love with the fact that his classroom has a bearded dragon as a pet.

He also enjoys lunch in the lunch room, recess, and math. 

Brooks is taking some time getting used to being alone with mom during the day. He said over and over that he "needed to talk to Marie and Bennett" during their first day of school. When Marie came walking up the sidewalk from the bus he ran to her and said "I missed you" and gave her a big hug.

Courtney's Hero

We had an exciting last minute trip to see Uncle Don and Aunt Jean last weekend.

They have a horse named Courtney's Hero who is a young race horse.  Hero had a race on Saturday night and we were so anxious to watch him run!

He had a great race and so many people cheering him on.  That night he went from last place to 2nd!  He is a playful and spunky horse who loves carrots and attention. 

Thanks for sharing him Don and Jean!  We hope to see him again soon.

Fitting it all in

Our summer is winding down and we are so thankful for all the fun we have had!

However, in true Mueting style, we are still trying to add more fun in the last few weeks.

Day at the Farm

Our summer has been packed but we knew we had to make it to the farm for some time with the horses.

 The day started out rainy but we had a wonderful afternoon and evening full of fun. We rode horses, played with the kittens, dogs, and cows.

 A big surprise was that we were able to help load hundreds of baby pigs into the barn in the evening. 

Everyone had a job and surprisingly it went very well!
