The Great Outdoors

Sometimes you just need the chill in the air, fresh smells, and crunch in the leaves.
Even though we had a few things on our to-do list, we decided to put it all aside and get outside.
It's no secret that our family loves spending time outside. We take advantage of all seasons no matter what the weather is.

We threw rocks in the lake, played fetch with the dogs, and looked for bugs, shells, and pretty rocks.
For approximately 45 minutes, no fighting happened, no bickering, no phone calls, and no to-do list unless you include the endless huge rocks Andy had to pick up for Bennett.

I am so thankful we took advantage of that great day...last night we had snow flurries!
The kids couldn't believe that snow was coming before Halloween.
Marie insisted it was everything except snow -rain, freezing rain, frost...finally I said, "Marie, you are just thinking of new ways to describe snow...it's snow!"
Our lake girl just isn't ready for winter.
This fall has been so gorgeous and we love our new lake scenery!

Brooks - 10 months

sniff sniff...
Somehow my baby boy is 10 months old!
This has been a huge month for him:

1. He is on the move - not in the crawling way you would imagine. Nope, he is twisting, scooting backwards, sitting up, rolling over, make your way across the room and into odd places kind of "on the move."

2. He has teeth - 3 to be exact. 2 on top, 1 on the bottom. He received them all within 2 weeks, cut 2 at the same time, and he did not enjoy this process. He is however enjoying the new food possibilities now that he can chew and bite more efficiently!

3. He is a talker - more like screamer!  He knows when he needs more attention and that boy can scream - not only scream, but hold it for an unusually long time. I think he may be a singer or swimmer because his lung capacity is amazing.

4. He is rough and tough - this boy is becoming more and more like his brother. He is starting to wrestle, grab, pinch especially at the dogs and Bennett. Those boys are going to have fun together and drive me crazy in the near future.

5. He doesn't sit still - if you can't tell from these photos, he is no longer interested in sitting still. He is constantly on the go and doesn't care that he is supposed to sit still with a 10 month sticker on his shirt...oh well. His cuteness makes up for it.

Family Fun

Once again we knew just how to pack it all in this weekend.
Friday night started with Marie participating in her first cheerleading camp through the school.
She was picked up by the cheerleaders after school and learned the cheers, ate supper with them, and did cheers on the track at the football game.
She had a great time and made some new friends, too!
Grammy and Papa came along to watch our cheerleader.

Saturday morning we had a cold soccer game followed by a busy day of fun.
Andy was able to sneak away for the Nebraska/Minnesota football game with Nathan.
He was also able to spend some time with Don and Jean, too.
I think they had just a little bit of fun and the Huskers finally got a win!

Meanwhile, the kids and I went over to Sheldon to spend the day with Grandma Nel, Aunt Mindy, and the girls.

The kids played and played, the dogs played and played, we made cupcakes, ate too many cookies,  met Alissa's new puppy, Bella, and had a wonderful day.

Just what we needed

After a week of sickness (blah...) from all the kids at some point, we enjoyed the good ol' outdoors this weekend.
On Friday night it was cool, but we all needed some time outside. We took the dogs walking and hunting for pheasants and along the way found snail shells, cattails, and a beautiful view.

Saturday morning's soccer game was cold and blustery, so the boys entertained themselves in the back of the van. Marie's team did awesome this week!
Along with learning how to cut apples and make apple crisp, Marie also lost her other front tooth!

Andy & I hired a babysitter and had a date on Saturday night.
We were so anxious for some adult time.
It was a beautiful night so we chose to enjoy one last night on the boat with an evening cruise. It was so peaceful and a great evening that we needed.

 Sunday was hot hot hot!
After a few chores around the house we decided to surprise the kids with a picnic cruise on the boat.
We ate sandwiches and chips, the kids took turns driving, looked at the leaves, and fed some seagulls, too.
We said "farewell boat!"

Lookout...Brooks is ready to drive next summer, Papa!

Family Photo Shoot

Get ready for photo overload...we just had family photos taken a few weekends ago and they turned out great!
We were so happy with the photographer, the weather, and the kids did fabulous!

These 3 cuties...how are they so old?!

Brooks decided to be a ham and he found his cheesy grin just in time!

 what a beauty...

 Our little family

Daddy and his boys...they love him so much.

Bennett placed his arms just so for this photo...it was his idea to cross them on Andy's shoulders.
Marie's job was to keep Brooks' hands down.
Look at that smile!

So thankful I have sweet girl...
And of course my sweet and silly boys.

Andy & I were hiding behind the tree holding them up.
